Roundball Soundoff: Championship Edition Part 1

I’d like to start off by giving a big congratulations to the Dallas Mavericks. They surprised just about everyone all throughout the playoffs. They showed a mental and defensive toughness that no one thought was possible. If there is going to be a prolonged strike I’m glad we had such a feel-good story to close this chapter in the NBA out on. From Jason Kidd winning on his 3rd trip to the finals, to Peja and Marion getting a ring […]

Roundball Soundoff 5/23/11: Rapturous Conference Finals

In game 1 of the Western conference finals Dirk Nowitzki had one of the greatest all-time playoff performances. 48 points on 15 shots, 12-15 FG and a record 24-24 from the line. The Thunder have to choose to single Dirk, who is basically unguardable and let him go nuts like he did in game 1, or “hold” him to 25 by doubling him and hoping the rest of the team misses shots. I think I roll the dice with the […]

Roundball Soundoff 5/16/11: Celebrating Too Early, Miami?

Come on Miami, rolling around on the floor and crying after you won a 2nd round series. Really? LeBron said it was so emotional because they finally got over the hump by beating Boston. If beating Boston while Rondo, Garnett, West, and both O’Neals were injured is getting over the hump that’s fine, but do it with a little class. Chicago stomped Atlanta and just calmly walked off the court. Act like you’ve been there before. For those Knicks fans […]

Roundball Soundoff: Dear Mr…

Dear Mr. Chandler, Sorry you couldn’t make the playoffs. Hopefully you’ll be able to make an appearance next year. Dear Mr. Rose and Mr. Bryant, I’m never believing you when you say you are injured again. Your best games of the season were when you weren’t sure if you’d even play. Actually Mr. Wade should be copied on this too. Dear Mr. Rondo, Your team wins when you play aggressive and loses when you aren’t. Please have the right Rondo […]

Roundball Soundoff 4/4/11: The Losers

The….race for 8th in the East (ed. note: Do we really wanna call this a *race*?) (AKA the team who gets to be swept by the Bulls in the 1st round) is just about over. And the winner is….The Bobcats because they get to avoid the brutal beatdown the Bulls are going to provide. I hope you like the teams that are in the playoffs this year because the only lottery teams I can see even possibly making it next […]

Roundball Soundoff 3/21/11: James Dolan Can Suck It

– Since the Carmelo trade the Knicks are 1-6 against below .500 teams and 6-2 against above .500 teams. Yeah you read that right. – In a related note, since the Knicks are above .500 (barely) for the first time in 7 years, ticket prices are going up 49% next year. Thank you James Dolan. – People are complaining that the NBA is becoming too top-heavy. Look at seeds 5-8 in the west. If you’re, say, the Lakers do you […]

Roundball Soundoff 3/7/11: Some Knick Knacks

I know it’s a little short, but it was a slow week in the NBA this week: ¼ of the Cavs wins this season are against the Knicks. Luckily for the Knicks they won’t have to face the Cavs in the playoffs FYI to all NBA players out there; After Samardo Samuals dunked the ball against the Knicks, JJ Hickson laughed….and got a technical. So laughing is now added to the giant list of reasons players will get a technical […]

Roundball Soundoff 2/28/11: Trade BONANZA!!!

The NBA trade deadline seems to have been much busier this year than in seasons past. Here to break down the deals, steals and head-scratchers is our man Jay , whose Podcast (I hyperlinked it) is one you should definitely be listening to. The Celtics sent Marquis Daniels to the Kings for a 2017 2nd-round pick. • Injured all the time anyway, clears up a roster spot and clears up some space for Boston. Low risk for the Kings. Who knows, […]

Roundball Soundoff 1/31/11: The Heat Index?

As a Knicks fan this season is so frustrating. We’ll beat teams like the Spurs and Heat but lose to the Kings and Cavs. I’d still take this season over the last 8 but this emotional rollercoaster of a season is draining. The Clippers have looked great in 2011. They dug too big a hole to make the playoffs this year but I’m already looking forward to seeing this team in the postseason in 2012. Who are your picks for […]

Roundball Soundoff 1/18/11: Everyone’s Injured

Make sure you’re checking Jay out at The Brink of Sanity . OK so there’s a lot of injuries throughout the NBA this season (Hell yes! My fantasy teams are fucked up!-ed.). I want to break down the injury situations and talk about what it means for each team. I didn’t include players that aren’t in the top 8 in their teams rotations, and I usually left out players with very temporary injuries. (This was written on January 17th, so a few players may […]
