Spin Cycle: Constants, Pasiflora

How epic can Constants get? That’s the real question one needs to ask on the band’s third album Pasiflora. It’s hard to imagine that the follow-up to If Tomorrow The War (An album produced by Justin Broadrick) could get any bigger but that’s just what Pasiflora has managed to do. Part Echo & The Bunnymen, part Sisters Of Mercy, encompassed by the spirit of Type O Negative, Pasiflora is more a dreamscape than an album. It’s a state of mind […]

I Read AP’s “100 Bands You Need To Know In 2012” So You Don’t Have To.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year again. No, not Christmas! It’s Alternative Press’ annual “100 Bands You Need To Know In ____” issue and once again, you have all dodged a bullet by letting me read and re-read and re-read this issue to cull together the very best of the so-called “best”. Anyway, here’s who I thought were the standouts for 2012:   Kerretta: Who the hell are these guys and how the hell did I not know about […]

The Singles Bar: Constants “Sunrise”

What a difference a few years makes. After If Tomorrow The War, Constants phenomenal 2010 album, I was expecting their next release to be a bludgeoning monster considering this one was produced by the legendary Justin K. Broadrick. What we get with “Sunrise”, off of June’s Pasiflora record, is a lot closer to Echo & The Bunnymen and The Sisters of Mercy than Jesu or Godflesh, That’s not to say that “Sunrise” isn’t a great song because it is. Will […]

I read AP’s “100 Bands You Need To Know in 2011” so you don’t have to.

You’re welcome. I do not buy a lot of magazines anymore. All of my music news I can usually get from the interwebs and I’m totally fine with that. I was out and about the other day and saw the latest issue of AP which was the annual “100 bands you need to know in 2011” and like a sucker, I bought it. At the very least, this issue is good for laugh and I get to make myself feel […]
