Are you a fan of Guided by Voices?
That band’s James Greer has formed a new band called Detective (there’s an accent mark over the first “e,” but I don’t know how to insert one of those things…help a brotha out, why don’t you?)
James is joined by Guylaine Vivarat, an active member of the LA music scene (Useless Keys, 2 Hearts & Chemicals) and Chris Dunn from Chicago (the city, not the band.) Détective has already released two EPs, Very Fallen World and Basket of Masks, and their first full-length album was released last August…on cassette! The group is currently working on an ambitious double album with Steve Kille of Dead Meadow, which they hope to release later this spring.
They’ve got a couple of tour dates coming up (you can find the dates below,) but if you’re not fortunate enough to live in one of the cities in which Detective is playing, you can check out some of their music on (where else?) Soundcloud.
You’ll definitely be hearing more from these folks in the near future!
