My favorite faux-preppie indie-world-pop outfit, Vampire Weekend, has finally announced a date for their as yet untitled third album. It looks like the follow up to 2010’s Grammy-nominated, #1 charting, and uniformly excellent Contra will be arriving on May 7th.
The foursome has spent the last few months in and out of the studio, surfacing on “Late Night With Jimmy Kimmel” last fall to perform a song called “Unbelievers.” It’s not known for sure whether that song will appear on the new album, but I’d say it’s a pretty safe bet.
While on hiatus, individual members have been keeping us entertained on Twitter (songwriter/keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij can be found @matsoR) and Instagram (where lead singer Ezra Koenig’s fanciful photos can be found at @arzE.)
As we’re waiting for a new VW jam to emerge, why don’t you get your winter dance party on with this classic from their 2008 debut album?
