If you love Swedish-American alt-rock trio Miike Snow, you’ll be happy to know they have a new album, Happy to You, coming soon. And if you don’t know Miike Snow, you’ll be surprised to know they’re partially responsible for a few of the biggest mainstream hits of the past few years.

Miike Snow – comprised of writer-producer-instrumentalists Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg and vocalist Andrew Wyatt – had a great shoulda-been-a-hit with their self-titled debut in 2009 and hypnotic, Peter Gabriel-esque single “Animal.” But five years earlier, Karlsson and Winnberg had a far bigger hit as Bloodshy & Avant, the production team behind Britney Spears’ Grammy-winning, completely-inescapable-no-matter-how-much-you-tried “Toxic.”

How the pair manage to keep a double life as of shameless pop craftsmen and New Wave-y rock goodness is beyond my comprehension, but judging from what’s heard in the loopy video for new single “Paddling Out” – which sort of resembles a scene from Shameless, if William H. Macy were kidnapped by aristocratic aliens and violently transformed via plastic surgery – I’ll be glad to uncover more when Happy to You hits stores on March 28.
