While 2011 has shaped up to be a decent year so far for music in general, there hasn’t been a whole lot of soul music that’s shaken me up so far. Aside from Marsha Ambrosius and Adele, I can’t think of one album that falls under the R&B umbrella that’s really moved me-and we’re damn near halfway through the year. Fortunately, soul assistance is on the way via albums by Jill Scott (which comes out next week), Van Hunt and the one and only Rahsaan Patterson. It’s about a month until Bleuphoria finally hits record store shelves (‘cuz I’m old school like that), and Rah is teasing us with yet another song from the album. Following “Easier Said Than Done”, which leaked towards the end of last year, we’ve now been presented with the slyly sensual “6 A.M.” The song was co-written with Rah’s running buddy Lalah Hathaway (who we’re hopefully getting new music from in 2011, as well). It’s got a slight ’80s retro vibe to it (not that there’s anything wrong with that), and as usual, Rahsaan’s vocals are sublime. I’ve already got a copy of the album, and believe me when I tell you, it’s worth waiting for.

….yes.
YES YES YES YES YES.
Sorry, I’ve been waiting eagerly since “Wines and Spirits” to hear more from Mr. Patterson. I’m seriously more excited than I’ve been in a while.
