Although I’ve been going to shows for two decades, just about every concert I’ve been to has been a) indoors b) a two-hours-and-done scenario. The only multi-day festival I’ve ever attended (and did so multiple years) was Bamboozle, and I attended as a worker, not as a spectator. I guess this year’s Boston Calling counts, too. Although I only got to see one band on the first night before the show got rained out.

Glancing at this year’s Coachella lineup, hell-glancing at the last few years’ Coachella lineups, I see a frustrating mix of artists I enjoy and artists I wouldn’t be caught dead within 500 feet of. What I don’t see is that one artist who I think would make the trip to California worthwhile. There are a lot of artists I’d love to see if they played locally, including Kimbra, Flying Lotus, Ryan Adams & the legendary team of Raekwon & Ghostface Killah. There’s Steely Dan & AC/DC, who I’d have loved to see if this was Coachella 1985 or 1995 (although, as someone who’s seen Donald Fagen solo as recently as two years ago, The Dan is probably still an enjoyable attraction.) Of course, there’s also a sizable list of bands I’ve already seen and don’t have a pressing desire to see again.

The headliners are the aforementioned AC/DC, plus Jack White (who probably puts on a great show) and Drake (who I don’t dislike, but have no desire to experience in a live setting.) The festival takes place over two weekends in April, and you can get more info here. Lineup is below.
