Just over a month ago, Dave Matthews Band released the new single “Gaucho” for free download to their fans. Now, a new studio album from the veteran jam band is scheduled for release. Away From The World is scheduled to drop on September 11th, and will be produced by Steve Lillywhite, who produced their three best albums (in my humble opinion,) Under The Table And Dreaming, Crash, and Before These Crowded Streets. I always anticipate new music from the DMB, and the news that Lillywhite is behind the boards makes me even more excited. Away From The World is available for preorder in a variety of deluxe packages. You can place your copy on hold right here.
One month earlier, the movie “Sparkle” hits theaters. The film stars Jordin Sparks and features Whitney Houston in her final film role. The first single from the movie’s soundtrack is the R. Kelly-penned “Celebrate,” and the uptempo track’s video premiered yesterday. Obviously, Whitney can’t appear in the video, but her presence is felt via clips from the movie as well as via the Whitney Houston t-shirt Jordin wears at the end of the clip. The movie actually looks pretty good-I might be slowly coming off the fence in regards to going to see it. I’ll certainly be picking the soundtrack.
