Jesse “The Devil” Hughes is doing it to me again. I first heard the infectious “I Only Want You” off of the Hughes-fronted Eagles Of Death Metal debut about 2 months before the album hit stores and now he’s done the same thing with “Boots Electric Theme”, the first single off of hisĀ solo album, Honkey Kong, due in September.
If you don’t know who “The Devil” is then you are a bad, bad, rock music fan. Comprised of Hughes on vocals and guitar and some guy named Josh Homme (Who apparently has the golden music touch in 2011 according to me), on drums, The Eagles Of Death Metal are rawk incarnate. After 3 albums with EODM, Jesse is striking out on his own using the Boots Electric moniker.
“Boots Electric Theme” is electro-funk in the vein of Morris Day and The Time with an undeniably rock edge. It also features guest vocals from Mrs. Homme, Brody Dalle. If this doesn’t get you drooling for the full-length in September than you might wanna check if you still have a soul.
