Looking at the calendar, it’s hard to believe that we’re in mid-April already, but it’s nice to know that summer is right around the corner. The older I get, the more I hate winter (which totally explains why I live in the Northeast), so I must say I’m looking forward to barbecues, beaches, and…what’s something else summery that starts with “B”? Oh, well.
I definitely have some interest in modern country music (hey, I’m eclectic), and over the past two or three years, Brad Paisley has become one of my favorite artists in that genre. He’s a very witty songwriter, he plays shit-hot guitar, and (shallowness be damned), he’s pretty fuckin’ easy on the eyes. As is his wife, actress Kimberly Williams. Man, I’d love to be a fly on that bedroom wall.
Anyway, in the tradition of great summertime songs, Brad has decided to grace us with a video for “Water”, which appears on his 2009 album “American Saturday Night”. True to Paisley’s slightly offbeat sense of humor, the video features Brad and his band playing…you guessed it, underwater. Don’t worry, no one got electrocuted.
Country singers have held down the market for great summer songs these past couple years (or at least, country-ish artists…I’m thinking of Kid Rock’s “All Summer Long” and Zac Brown’s “Toes”), and “Water” is the perfect kickoff to summer ’10.
