British soul singers have been popping out of the woodwork for six or seven years, now. Amy Winehouse kicked open the door, and since then, divas from Adele to Emeli Sande to Leona Lewis have followed, to varying degrees of success.

I’ve heard the name Jessie Ware before, but haven’t heard anything she’s sung…until now.

Ware has decided to tackle a favorite among the Popblerd crew, Martika’s 1991 hit “Love…Thy Will Be Done.” Although the former “Kids Incorporated” child star (shout out to her castmates Rahsaan Patterson and Fergie) is best known for her #1 smash “Toy Soldiers,” this top ten smash introduced her to a more mature audience. The haunting ballad was written and composed by a man you may have heard of once or twice before-Prince.

Ware’s version is quite similar to the original, right down the vocals. One thing her version is definitely missing, though? Prince. The Purple One’s background vocals on the original add a little bit of flavor that’s not present on this serviceable remake. What do you think?
