The success of “Adorn” has boosted Miguel’s profile incredibly.
The ballad spent what seems like an eternity at #1 on the R&B charts, won the singer/songwriter a Grammy and caught the ears and eyes of Kelly Clarkson, who appeared on the Grammys and may have proposed a three-way between her, Miguel and her husband.
OK, maybe not. The fact is, though, Mr. Pimentel is right at the top of the “next to blow up” list, and his latest video, “Candles in the Sun” seems like it’s the next step in his eventual dominance of the whole male R&B thing.
The video is black and white and somber, which is in line with the song’s serious lyrical content. While the track cribs lines from the old school classic “Be Thankful For What You’ve Got” as well as the Notorious B.I.G.’s “Kick in the Door,” the song recalls the world-weary view of Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On.
