Mean Creek is Boston’s best-kept secret. A four piece indie-pop/rock band that has earned plaudits from the likes of Adam Duritz, these guys (and girl) are the real deal.
Their latest album, Youth Companion, comes out next Tuesday, and the members are celebrating with a release party at Brighton Music Hall tonight. If you’re not local to Boston or you just can’t make it, celebrate with the nostalgic video for first single “Young & Wild.” The Creek-ers are barely to be found in this clip, but don’t let that detract from your enjoyment. The song is anthemic enough that you can picture fists being thrust in the air as it’s being sung, and the video’s irreverent, funny and has lots of cool Easter eggs that ’90s nostalgists (and modern-day hipsters) will flip over.
