Even if you don’t know her name, you know her voice.
For well over a decade, LaToiya Williams had lent her distinctive pipes to songs by a who’s who of hip-hop and R&B. She’s worked extensively with Snoop Dogg Lion, and has also been featured on songs by Jay-Z, Talib Kweli and Anthony Hamilton, just to name a few. I’ve been waiting for her to come out with a full-on album for quite some time, and it looks like my waiting just might pay off.
She’s just about set to release an EP (seriously? Just an EP?) called Kup Cak’n (no, I don’t know what that means either,) and the first morsel comes in the form of “This Love Is Sweet.” Great, now I want cake.
LaToiya’s vocals are perfectly suited for this short (2 1/2 minute) slice of throwback soul with a definite summer vibe. Give it a listen! I hope we’ll be hearing more from her soon.

Kup Cakin’ just means doing lovey dovey stuff I think right? Or is there a hipper meaning that I’m not aware of?

I don’t have the slightest clue. Never heard that term used before.
