Muse, what can I say about you? Well, you have helped me through the good times and the bad times with your melodic charm…albeit sometimes creepy, melodic charm. You have once again brought joy to my ear holes! This latest release Survival is, in a word, delightful. It starts out slow, and you’re sitting there thinking…I know I clicked on Muse, but this is all piano…GIVE ME MATTHEW’S DULCET VOCALS!!! And then, THERE IT IS! I feel as though I can march into battle to this song. Which I feel is somewhat the intention because unless I’m wrong, which happens once in a great while…I believe this is going on some sort of soundtrack for the 2012 London Olympics. I had no idea right away, but as I’m listening to Survival, I’m thinking to myself..Man, Muse is totally from the UK, and this song is, for lack of a better word, EPIC. Then I start thinking, this should be on a commercial for the Olympics, or something equal greatness.
Anyways, now that I have totally and completely declared my love for this song. Go have a listen. It’s well worth your time. Shed a tear to the beautiful chorus of voices, and the grand instrumentals…At the very least you can admit this has some SOUL.

I really like the first minute and 30 seconds or so of this in particular, with the orchestra and the bouncy piano bit and such. And the backing chant-y vocals are kinda cool.
The rest I wasn’t quite as sure on at first, but the more I hear it it’s starting to grow on me (this happens sometimes with Muse songs, though, so that’s nothing new). And it definitely makes for a epic Olympic song.
I really can’t wait for their new album (and tour!).
