If you stay up late at night and watch infomercials, then you’re all about the whole “ACT NOW” spiel. Well, here are some musical offers from two of my favorite songwriters and they both end within the next 24 hours, so I implore you to take advantage!!
By now, you’re probably aware of our affection for Mike Doughty. In the past twelve months alone, Mike has gifted us with an album of brand new material, a double live album, and a book. As if all of that wasn’t enough, Mike has created “The Lo-Fi Lodge.” For $20, you will receive a song a week from Mike-for 32 weeks. That’s 32 songs-3 full albums. Or two full albums if this was 1997. Unreleased songs, songs that wound up being re-recorded and then being released…all sorts of songs for the price of 3 beers. How can you go wrong?
Join the Lo-Fi Lodge here. You’ve only got one day left!
In a somewhat similar vein, you might wanna check out the Kickstarter page for the legendary Marshall Crenshaw’s latest project–a series of 6 EPs that will be released (on LP as well as via digital download) over the next two years. As typical with Kickstarter programs, there is a sliding scale of goodies you can get, depending on how much cash you cough up. From signed posters to a 20-minute phone call from Marshall himself, there is plenty of incentive beyond just getting good music.
There’s just about two days left on this one, and tomorrow’s payday, so you guys and girls know what to do.
Also–give a look-see to the recent post commemorating the 30th anniversary of Crenshaw’s self-titled debut album written by my pals at Popdose and featuring commentary from Marshall himself.
