When you think of Brian McKnight, what comes to mind?
Soft, stately piano ballads, for the most part. Since he made his debut twenty years ago, Brian’s been giving us that modern-day Nat “King” Cole/Lionel Richie vibe. Although I question whether Lionel would collaborate with Puff Daddy and Ma$e.
I bet you never thought you’d hear Mr. “One Last Cry” attempting to teach you how your…er…lady parts function.
A recent viral video popped up featuring McKnight sitting in his studio, working on an “adult mixtape” and singing a song with…oh, just listen to the song. It’s DEFINITELY NSFW.
While the internet has been freaking out over this video (THIS is the death of R&B? Have you ever heard Marvin Gaye’s “Sanctified Pussy?”,) I’m fairly certain that McKnight is taking the piss or that there is at least some tongue-in-cheek element to the song. It’s certainly crass, but if Prince circa mid-nineties had made the same song, no one would have batted an eyelash.
And let’s face it–some people get off on frank, dirty talk. Ain’t nothing wrong with letting your freak flag fly a little bit.
