I’m certainly not the biggest authority on the blues or even blues-rock, but I am definitely intrigued by Gary Clark, Jr. The Austin-based singer/instrumentalist has been steadily building up a buzz since he was a teenager. His EP entitled Bright Lights received notice from the folks at Rolling Stone, who named it one of the 50 best albums of 2011. After reading his Wikipedia page, I also noticed that he sang along with Sheryl Crow on the cover of “I Want You Back” that closed her last album, 100 Miles From Memphis. I won’t hold that against him.
Anyhow, “Don’t Owe You A Thang” is the latest single and video. It comes from the Bright Lights EP, and while the video is no great shakes, I’m digging the song pretty hard. And the brother can shred. Looking forward to hearing more from him!
