Timez Are Weird These Days, the debut full-length by Brooklyn rapper Theophilus London, was one of last year’s sleepers. I bought it kinda on a lark, but it turned out to be one of my smarter purchases of 2011. Hip-hop filtered through indie rock without sounding ridiculously pretentious (harder than it sounds), London fits perfectly into that sort of “urban-alternative” area that encompasses everyone from TV On The Radio to Kenna to Of Montreal.

In preparation for his upcoming headlining tour (dates are at the bottom of this post,) London has released a brand new single called “Last Night (LVRS ANTHEM).” The song itself? Meh. It’s probably the most commercial thing he’s released, both in terms of sound and subject matter. It’s on the same quality level as a good Drake song, I guess.

I hear the dude smokes live, so make sure you check him out. If he actually was performing in my area, I would!
