Good Lord. If it wasn’t for Michael Jackson and Duran Duran, I wouldn’t have a blog this week. I blame it all on Carlos Halston.
Anyhow, good news came this week in the form of an official release date for Duran Duran’s new album. “All You Need is Now” will first be released on iTunes December 21st. A physical release is tentatively scheduled for February. While I’m certainly not a fan of the whole staggered release date thing that artists and bands seem to do with alarming frequency these days, I think I’m comfortable waiting a couple of months to hear the entire album (I don’t buy digital albums. I can’t get over the whole music being a lot more than files on a computer thing Sorry.)
As I mentioned earlier in the week, “All” is being produced by Mark Ronson, and his aim appears to be to get Duran to sound like they did back in their early days-which is totally cool with me. Let’s hope there are some tour dates behind this one. Duran Duran is one of those bands I absolutely have to see live.
There definitely will be a “Blerd’s Notes” series on Duran Duran coming up soon, possibly after I finish Prince, which I’ll do once I can convince myself to listen to “The Vault: Old Friends for Sale” and “The Rainbow Children” again…
