Hey Folks,
I actually first read about this in a Tweet from Aziz Ansari, so I kinda thought it might be a joke. It’s become extremely clear in the day or so since I first read it that this is NOT a joke.
Actor Andrew Koenig, who is best known as Richard (Boner) Stabone, Mike Seaver’s best friend on the sitcom “Growing Pains” has been missing for over a week. He apparently boarded a flight to Canada and did not show up for the return flight back to the States. His cell phone has been turned off, and apparently the last activity on it was on February 16th.
Reports are saying that Andrew was suffering from depression. It is my hope, both as a “Growing Pains” fan and a fellow depression sufferer, that he’s just taking some time to figure things out and he will resurface. Ordinarily, this isn’t the type of thing I would post, but given the circumstances, I felt as though I needed to do something.
Andrew’s dad Walter has posted a note on his website with a number that anyone who has information on Andrew’s whereabouts can call.
Believe me, folks, my intent is for this blog to be reasonably lighthearted, sarcastic and funny. But I also want this blog to be a reflection of me and my experience, and believe me when I tell you that there is nothing funny, lighthearted or sarcastic about depression. It is my hope that Andrew is safe and sound, and in the one in a million chance that anyone reading this blog has any idea where this guy is, please do the right thing and make that phone call.
(It sucks that apparently the scene where Boner leaves to go into the military has apparently been removed on YouTube. It was one of the most memorable and emotional scenes from the show’s seven year run).

His character was classic on GP. I hope he’s found and just needed space, though, you’d think that he would’ve reached out by now with all the information about him being lost.

Yeah, you would think so.
