In advance of the release of his upcoming album, Soul Punk, former Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump is releasing an EP entitled Truant Wave on February 22nd. The EP will be available only on iTunes.
Patrick says that although he likes these songs, he didn’t feel as though they really have a place on Soul Punk, so he’s decided to release them separately. He also mentioned that Soul Punk will be one of those written, arranged, produced and performed by deals (Prince style!) and Truant Wave features several collaborations, although the only well-known collaborator is Chester French’s D.A. Wallach. The EP will feature “Spotlight (Oh Nostalgia)”, which I included in an earlier post. Patrick’s only announced three tour dates so far (two in his hometown of Chicago and one at Joe’s Pub in New York), but I’m hoping that a full-on national tour gets announced (as well as an album release date).
Check out the track listing:
Porcelain (feat. Alph-A-Bit)
Spotlight (Oh Nostalgia)
Cute Girls (feat. Om’mas Keith)
Love, Selfish Love
As Long As I Know I’m Getting Paid
Big Hype (feat. D.A. of Chester French and Driis)

Only one well-known collaborator? The same song w/ D.A. also has Driis. That’s the pseudonym for Idris Elba, better known as an actor, and best known as Stringer Bell in the Wire. That alone makes him awesome.
