Singer/songwriter Matt Nathanson’s new video “Mission Bells” looks back to the horror films of Alfred Hitchcock for inspiration.
He says: “we shot it in San Francisco as an homage to the great Alfred Hitchcock. The idea was to make the kind of video you might have seen if you watched
“120 minutes” back in the day… which was MTV’s show dedicated to alternative bands like The Cure & Love and Rockets. The video was directed by Fort Ripper, who rule.
and p.s.- this is probably the last time you’ll ever see me in a suit.
A) It’s extremely sad to me that there are people out there who need to have “120 Minutes” explained to them.
B) I’d actually say the video reminds me more of the clips from MTV’s first glory period of 1983-84 than it does the alternative videos from later in the decade.
C) A suit…uh, suits you, Matt!
His upcoming album, Last of the Great Pretenders, hits stores on 7/16. I know I’ll be getting a copy.
