Metallica meets Motorhead as bassist Jason Newsted unveils “Soldierhead” off his upcoming 4-song EP under the “Newsted” moniker. A welcome return to his heavy roots, “Soldierhead” shreds like no other. It’s got the thrash of early Metallica, the punk aesthetic of “Ace Of Spades”-era Motorhead and a sonic brutality reminiscent of Ministry.
As the lead off track for an EP entitled Metal, “Soldierhead” definitely delivers. The EP, due out on January 8th, promises to be one of the standout metal releases of 2013 and you can pre-order it right here.
