I really don’t know what happened to Father MC.
Father MC’s Father’s Day was one of the first rap CDs I ever bought with my own money. I was a huge fan of his song I’ll Do 4 U and even dug Treat Them Like They Want To Be Treated. With those song titles, dude was definitely trying to reach out to the females who were seemingly being dissed in other rap songs.
But what might’ve been his best song wasn’t featured on that first album. I never bought Close To You, his follow-up, so it wouldn’t be until the existence of iTunes that I even had access to Everything’s Gonna Be Alright. It samples the heavily sampled Good Times and really, like is usually the case, the sample is the star of the song. But K-Ci and Jojo from Jodeci clean up huge as well. Father MC was never a fantastic rapper, but he had a bombastic voice and a smooth demeanor. This song just worked.
One of these days, when they run out of guys to bring out, maybe Father MC will be invited to VH-1’s Hip Hop Honors. But until then, I’ll just have to keep my three favorite Father MC song on repeat.

He was on the remix to “Where Are They Now?” by Nas, but that’s gotta be at least five years old now.

Do people still use milk cartons for this kind of stuff?

I don’t think I’ve seen a milk carton in years. Do people still drink milk out of cartons?

Yep. But there’s so many kinds now. Maybe he’s on the back of a carton of almond milk.
