Like a suntanned cat with nine lives, Jason Mraz bounced back in a big way with We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things. Sounding a bit less like John Mayer’s smart-ass kid brother and more like Jack Johnson’s smart-ass kid brother, the third album from the singer/songwriter became an unexpected success, winning a Grammy and spawning “I’m Yours,” which set a record for the longest running song in history on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
Four years since the release of We Sing, Jason is returning with his fourth (as yet untitled) album, due this spring. The first single from it, “I Won’t Give Up”, made it’s way onto the airwaves earlier this week. I’m…pretty nonplussed. While not an exact rip of “I’m Yours” (way less summery) it’s definitely in a similar vein. Just kinda boring. Not feeling it.
Have a listen. What do you guys think?

I’m a Mraz fan and this is underwhelming to me :/ Sounds like more of a B-side than an actual single…

I don’t dislike him, Brittany. I wasn’t nuts about the last album (with the exception of two or three songs) and this song just doesn’t hit me the way that a lot of the songs from his first album did.
