2011: The Year of Nu-Metal?!?! (Bizkit’s Back, Baby!)
by Jesse on May 18, 2011 • 9:30 am No CommentsWe’re about a month away from the release of the long-delayed, highly anticipated (?) Gold Cobra by Limp Bizkit. I would say I’m more a fan of guitarist Wes Borland (Have you listened to Black Light Burns yet???) than of Bizkit itself. That said, knowing that Borland was back in the band certainly piqued my interest. His last outing with the band, The Unquestionable Truth pt. 1 EP (Pretty sure pt. 2 will never happen), had the potential to be something awesome. “The Truth” off of that release is one of the best, most experimental LB songs ever. Unfortunately it’s also the only listenable track on that entire insipid CD.
But I digress.
Today you get your first taste from Gold Cobra with “Shotgun”. What can I say? It sounds like Bizkit. There’s a guitar solo in there, the riffs are solid, Durst sounds the same. What more is there to say? It’s not jumping to new heights but it ain’t half bad for the band’s first new material together since 2000. The countdown for June 28th is on…
