Anticipation is building for the first collection of unreleased material left by Michael Jackson. Another new song, “Much Too Soon” has surfaced, in addition to a teaser for the “Hold My Hand” video.
Award Show Sundays: AMA All Day!!!
Hey folks-guess what? The American Music Awards are tonight. Who has two thumbs and will be live-blogging the whole show-as painful as that process appears? Yep-this guy. Make sure you check out this site frequently throughout the night to see what I think of the show. In the meantime, let’s go back in time and pull yet another great AMA moment out of the archives. Damn-looks like someone’s gone into YouTube and pulled out a lot of the good stuff, […]
The Viewfinder: Michael Jackson’s “One More Chance”
When the Santa Barbara police department issued a warrant for Michael Jackson’s arrest in 2003, the King of Pop was in Las Vegas shooting the video for “One More Chance”, the one new track from his compilation “Number Ones”. Up until now, my assumption was always that the clip had been left incomplete. Well…”One More Chance” is making it’s official debut next week as part of the new DVD box set “Vision”, and I can’t really say whether it was […]
Hear Here: Michael Jackson’s “Hold My Hand”
So, the first “official” single from Michael Jackson’s “Michael” (what even constitutes an official or unofficial single these days?) has made it’s debut, and it’s…a song that circulated heavily on the internet three years ago? “Hold My Hand” is the name of the song, and it’s one of the tracks that MJ worked on with Akon a couple of years ago (you know, back when Akon was hot). The version that leaked a couple years back was unfinished (and truthfully, […]
The “Breaking News” Saga Continues, PLUS “Michael”‘s Tracklisting Revealed
My friend Mike hipped me to this article from Idolator which contains a statement from Michael Jackson’s estate regarding the current “Breaking News” furor and tries to put a closing stamp on the argument about whether the vocals on the track really belong to Michael. Apparently, a sea of Michael’s former associates, including multi-instrumentalist/producer Greg Phillinganes (who had worked with MJ since the Seventies) and Teddy Riley (who co-produced the track) all verified the King of Pop’s involvement in the track. Maybe I’m just […]
“Breaking News”: Michael or Memorex?
As promised last week, Michael Jackson’s website premiered the track “Breaking News” on the late superstar’s website today. There’s been a bit of a kerfuffle (that word again) amongst the executors of his estate and his relatives as to whether that’s legitimately Michael’s voice on the song. Initially, I thought it was just another way to drum up publicity for a project that doesn’t really need one. Then, I listened to the song. Look, I’m not audio expert. However, I am someone who […]
Chamone!! New Michael Jackson Album Coming Out 12/14
Well, this is a nice little Christmas gift. Sony Music has announced that an album consisting of previously unreleased Michael Jackson material is coming out on December 14th, just in time for the festive holiday season. No word on the track listing yet, but the album, entitled “Michael”, will contain at least a few tracks recorded in 2007 in New Jersey. There’s already been a bit of a kerfuffle (I’ve always wanted to use that word) regarding whether the vocals […]
The Idiot Box: Lisa Marie Presley Talks MJ on Oprah
Just because I’m a Michael Jackson fan doesn’t mean I subscribe to the whole “MJ was the greatest person on Earth and I love him! Squeeeeeeee!!!” posts that I see all over the internet. I don’t speculate on what kind of guy he was for one simple fact: I never met the man and I never spent time with him. I’ve worked around famous people long enough to know that public personas and private personalities can often be very, very […]
MJ’s “Vision”: Do I Need This or Not?
My buddy GG is the only person I know that can touch me when it comes to Michael Jackson fandom (oh, wait-there’s my homie Carlos Halston …my bad), so I shouldn’t be surprised that he posted the news about the new Michael Jackson DVD set on my Facebook page. I’d already read a handful of articles about it, including one on The Second Disc that wondered what would be on it, and came to the conclusion that I didn’t need another MJ video collection, as big a fan as I […]
Ne-Yo’s New Video & Album Concept: “One in a Million”?
Seems like the folks at Def Jam are having a little trouble with Ne-Yo’s fourth album, “Libra Scale”. I would imagine it’s a little difficult to market what’s being termed a sci-fi novel/comic book story on disc (or download?). There’s a whole story attached to it-pretty frickin’ ambitious. Like Ne-Yo meets Pink Floyd? Thankfully, he hasn’t decided to go prog on us, music-wise. Anyhow, the album has gotten bumped several times and now has a November 22nd release date (which […]
Michael Jackson’s “The Experience” Trailer: Just How “Bad” is This Game?
So I went onto Michael Jackson’s website after noticing on Facebook that the trailer for his new video game premiered. Not that I would’ve bought the “Michael Jackson Experience” game, anyway. I’m not exactly the type of guy that plays dance games (although I played Dance Dance Revolution once…but it was during the holidays and I was with my family!). I’m sure my downstairs neighbors are quite thankful for that. I dunno…the game doesn’t look all that exciting to me. It’s […]
