As mentioned in my not-sure-why-I-posted-it “ We Saw It! Pearl Jam … In My Dreams ” post earlier today, I had a premonition in a dream late Sunday night (or maybe it was early Monday morning) that featured a comedic quartet that I compared as a cross-between Mumford & Sons and the duo that does the “Get Happy, Get GEICO ” commercials. When I went to write my story, I went searching for a reference to Mumford & Sons, possibly the video for “ The Cave “. Instead the first item that pulled up on […]

Moby, ‘A Case for Shame:’ The Viewfinder Review
So Moby is set to release his latest album, entitled innocents on October 1st. I dropped by his site today and found a video for the tune ‘a case for shame,’ featuring Cold Specks. It’s highlighted below. Listen – Moby’s coming off one of the best albums in recent years with 2011’s destroyed and he’s already collaborated with Mark Lanegan on a track for this new album. Cold Specks is a perfect vocal fit for Moby’s style of cinematic electronic music. […]
Justin Timberlake Has That Tunnel Vision For You (Along With Nudity)
Does Robin Thicke remind you of Justin Timberlake or is it the other way around? And damn it for Jon B. not being on the scene right now to further blur the lines. Ha! Timberlake’s new video for “Tunnel Vision” doesn’t really copy Thicke’s naked chick format for the video to “Blurred Lines”, which we wrote about months ago . But it does have some artsy female nudity intertwined with Justin lip synching his lyrics and dancing. Thus, just beware that the video below may not […]
Bloc Party, “Ratchet”: The Viewfinder Review
Well, that was quick! Less than a year after their genre-defying comeback album it looks as if Bloc Party are going on the dreaded “indefinite hiatus” once again. Don’t fret just yet, though, as the band have one last batch of new songs to release before they go their separate ways. Slated for release on August 12th in the UK, The Nextwave Sessions could very well be Bloc Party’s swan song but if songs like first single “Ratchet” are indicative […]
Jamie Lidell and the Q-Kidz find “Big Love”
In my initial review of Jamie Lidell’s latest record, I mentioned “Big Love” by name as a standout. Highly danceable, funky, unapologetically lifts its main beat from “The Pleasure Principle,” the song is an absolute standout on an already solid record. It’s an obvious choice for a single, but Lidell’s videos are never obvious visual counterparts (though they’re generally entertaining). “Big Love” focuses on neighborhood kids (actually the Q-Kidz dance team) flocking to the local rec center, which eventually turns into a near-disco-experience. […]
Nine Inch Nails, “Came Back Haunted”: The Viewfinder Review
Listen…I’m going to be excited for the new NIN album and tour simply because it’s Trent and I think he’s a visionary. This video comes from a highly touted director in David Lynch (Twin Peaks, Lost Highway). It’s, admittedly by the warning that precedes it, an epileptic’s worst nightmare. What to expect? A picture of girl, transposed beneath a spider rotating back and forth, a head’s on view of a shark with human teeth, a creepy play-dough face, and Trent’s […]
