chk-chk-chk-thrillerA band I will never be allowed to see live because my wife has called “dibs” and needs to get her dance on solo whenever they’re in town, !!! (Chk Chk Chk) is bringing the groove back once again on their latest album entitled THR!!!ER. Welcome to the party, the after party, and everything in between. This is the kind of setting !!! provides the soundtrack for and THR!!!ER is, quite simply, the best party album of 2013

Whether it’s slow jams shuffling along at a medium pace (“Even When The Water’s Cold”) or straight up club anthems (“Slyd”), !!! has the grooves for whichever mood you may be in. On their fifth full length, !!! tighten up everaythang making this their most impressive yet and stepping up their collective game considerably.

No matter how many effects Nic Offer puts on his vocals, the man is still the undisputed king of 21st Century sexy mic swagger (Not to mention king of sexy dancin’) and on THR!!!ER he steps up his game considerably. Take “Fine Fine Fine” for example where Offer is barely recognizable and the song as a a whole plays out as sort of a space age J. Geils Band instead of a new !!! song which is, ahem, fine.

Other highlights on the masterfully executed modern classic are the spiritual electro successor to “Bend Over Beethoven”, “Careful”, the hyper funk of “Californyeah”, and the all out dance marathon “Station (Meet Me At The)”.

THR!!!ER is out now on Warp Records and if you know what’s good for you, you’ll head over here and get yerself a copy.
