It takes balls to take on a classic metal song and do something new. It takes the biggest balls to dare to take on a Pantera song. Judging by the just released single by Battlecross, it seems that Detroit’s finest thrashers are proving the latter. Formerly known as “Fucking Hostile” by Pantera, “Hostile” is a raging ode to the Texan metallers and definitely does the original justice. Vocalist Kyle Gunther has the chops to match Phil Anselmo’s rage during that time period and dual guitarists Hiran Deraniyagala and Tony Asta do Dimebag proud. If possible, “Hostile” might be even more ‘hostile’ than the original!
