The man behind last year’s Grammy winner for Best R&B Album, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, is back with a surprise new single and upcoming album.
“We’ve Got Love” is an upbeat, bouncy jam from the multi-platinum songwriter and singer. It’s the first single from ‘Face’s upcoming project, Return of the Tender Lover. Sequels are generally not my thing, but when you consider that the original Tender Lover was a paradigm-shifting R&B album that spun off classic after classic-“It’s No Crime”, “Whip Appeal”, “Sunshine”, “Soon As I Get Home”…well, you’d have to imagine that expectations are high.
I’m digging this new track. It’s got the trademark Babyface shuffle, but it’s also got a lived-in and organic feel that music fans need right now. I appreciate it when artists who have been around for a minute don’t try to “reach”. ‘Face manages to refresh his sound slightly without freaking his fan base the hell out.
Yet another album to look forward to this fall…the exact release date for Return Of The Tender Lover is still TBD.

Well said! I wish Def Jam had been willing to spend a little bit more on a proper video, but you take what you can get.
