Were you confused last year when the acclaimed documentary series UnSung stopped showing new episodes before the season was supposed to end? Yeah, me too.
I’m still not sure why that happened, but the two unaired episodes will now receive a showing on TVOne this winter, starting with a volume on the King of Punk Funk, Rick James. His episode will air a week from today, on January 14th. It’ll be followed by an episode on “Reunited” duo Peaches & Herb. Neo-soul star (and pioneering female rapper) Angie Stone, and R&B diva Meli’sa Morgan will conclude this mini-season.
Should be an interesting series of episodes. I’ll be tuning in. Hell, I’m already wondering who will get the UnSung treatment in the next full season. There are a lot of stories still to be told!
If you don’t have cable, soultracks.com generally streams the episodes a few days after they air, and they also have a library of previous UnSung episodes on their site, so you can catch up.
Now check out some videos from each of the featured artists…

OK…it wasn’t just me. Really looking forward to the Angie episode. And for the record, “Seems You’re Much Too Busy” is one of my favorite R&B jams of the 90s. That whole album was great (I still have the cassette that I don’t have a player for).

John! You can probably get a tape player for five bucks. I think that even the tape to digital converters are, like, 25 dollars.
