Nothing says summer like “Before I Let Go” by Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly. That song has been a staple of cookouts and family reunions for 30 years and instantly provokes feelings of nostalgia amongst those of us who grew up around soul music.
Singer/songwriter Vivian Green and producer Kwame (yes, the “Ownlee Eue”/polka-dot guy) utilize Frankie’s classic to great effect on the new track “Get Right Back To My Baby.” I’ll admit to not having followed Vivian too closely since her debut of a decade ago, which boasted the hit “Emotional Rollercoaster.” This is a joint, though.
Not sure if this signals a new album-length project from Vivian (I’m not seeing anything on her website) but I’ll keep you posted if something develops. Also, Kwame’s got joints! Did you guys know he’s produced joints for Christina Aguilera, Lloyd Banks, Will Smith (“Switch”) and more?
