One thing I love about the internet and social media is that you can link up with like-minded souls, and those souls can often link you to music you’ve never heard before (and vice versa, of course.)

My friend and occasional Popblerd contributor John hipped me to this kid MNEK. According to the Buzzfeed article hyping (in perhaps too cheerleader-y a manner) his new video, MNEK is a British teenager. For a young kid, he’s got a good ear for sonics and melody. His song “Every Little Word” reminds me of everything good about pop/soul, and it has a timeless quality to it. It could have just as easily been made in 1984 as 2014. The video’s pretty engaging, too. I can’t really say anything about it other than what Buzzfeed says, but it’s kinda cool that the kid looks like he stepped out of a hip-house video circa 1989. Shout out to K-YZE and Doug Lazy!!
