I’ll take “strangely compelling lyric videos” for $600, Alex.
It’s only about a week until the release of Vampire Weekend’s third album, Modern Vampires of the City, and they’ve unveiled a lyric video for yet another track.
This one’s called “Ya Hey,” and no, it’s not a backwards version of OutKast’s 2003 classic. It’s actually the most “Vampire Weekend”-sounding track of the three I’ve heard so far. Depending on how much you dig VW’s first two albums, this could be a good or bad thing. Also, there is more bottle popping in this video than there was in the average Jay-Z video circa 1999.
I’ll wait for one of the members to explain the lyrics before I go assuming-it’s obviously some kind of love song. I won’t delve further into that. Just enjoy the song.
