We’re just a couple of weeks away from the release of Vampire Weekend’s third album, Modern Vampires of the City. As part of the lead-up to the release, the foursome will be performing a concert at NYC’s Roseland Ballroom this coming Sunday, April 28th. It’ll be livestreaming as part of American Express’s Unstaged concert series. If you’re not in a position to check VW out live, then this is a pretty good substitute.
How does Steve Buscemi figure into this? Well, the veteran character actor is apparently a distant relative of Vampire Weekend’s Chris Baio. With that in mind, he was enlisted to direct a series of web episodes starring the band members. These are pretty damn hilarious. You’ve got to love the second one, which enlists New York City mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio. Either Buscemi and the Vampire Weekend guys are super-small, or di Blasio is a fucking basketball player. Sweet Jeebus, that man’s tall.
Modern Vampires of the City will be out on May 14th.
