I didn’t get to see Saturday Night Live last night (I had a good reason, I was celebrating the marriage of some dear friends,) but I’m sure I’ll catch the best of the skits somewhere on the web.
Generally, I don’t post SNL performances unless they’re controversial or over-the-moon good. In this case, Justin Timberlake (performing host/musical guest duty for the third time) got out on stage and killed everyone in the viewing audience with his performances of “Suit & Tie” and “Mirrors.”
Joined by an Earth, Wind & Fire-sized band, Jay-Z and the Three Amigos (!), Justin delivered his best SNL musical performance and proved that he’s more than worked off the rust/nervousness he showed at the Grammys. Makes me kinda rethink my original plan to not buy Legends of the Summer tickets…

“Mirrors” is a hit. That song is more accessible, and will win over those with more pedestrian palates who couldn’t seem to digest the silky smooth, aspiration-oriented brilliance of Suit & Tie.

Agreed, Andrew. I can’t get that song out of my head this morning.

What I tweeted yesterday after watching SNL:
After watching JT on SNL, my thoughts remain the same: bad movie actor, above average pop star, brilliant live TV performer.
