If the classy Grammy performance last night didn’t do anything to whet your appetite for Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 Experience (due in about a month,) then the new song “Mirrors” might.
While many may note the song’s musical similarity to previous JT/Timbaland collaborations “Cry Me a River” and “What Goes Around Comes Around,” the lyrics make it clear that this is the final installment in a trilogy featuring the previously named songs. Justin’s gone from mourning a breakup to celebrating payback to recognizing his one true love.
This song has all the hallmarks of a huge hit-that chorus is a sing-along waiting to happen, and these are some of JT’s strongest vocals. I could probably do without the ending of the song, but overall it’s yet another indication that 20/20 might be Timberlake’s best work yet.
