Maybe pop music in the last year hasn’t been as bad as I thought.
By now, you’re probably quite familiar with the ridiculously intricate mashups that DJ Earworm does each year, commemorating the past twelve months in pop music.
This year’s mashup is the best that I can remember. Hell, the fact that I recognize 75% of the music featured in here (I’ve never heard the OneDirection song, the Flo Rida song or Ke$ha’s “Die Young” before) speaks highly to a certain quality on top 40 radio these days. Of the songs featured, I’d say a good 6 or 7 (both Bruno Mars songs, Adele’s “Set Fire To The Rain,” Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know,” Alex Clare’s “Too Close,” a couple others) are legit future classics.
Check it out for yourself and let us know how many of the songs you recognize!

Pretty cool mashup! I particularly liked the way they meshed the lyrics together, the whole thing flowed nicely.
And even the songs that weren’t my favorites (which weren’t many) sounded good in this context. 2012 was a pretty good year singles-wise.
