The best reunion of 2012 has given us the first taste of their first new studio album in almost sixteen years. “Amnesia”, the lead single off of Dead Can Dance’s upcoming Anastasis full-length (Due on August 9th) is everything you’ve come to expect from music’s premiere World/Goth legends.
With a steady beat and an otherworldly atmosphere, “Amnesia” is a little more in tone with Brendan Perry’s most recent solo album (The brilliant Ark released in 2011) than Dead Can Dance but if you chronicle either Perry’s or Lisa Gerrard’s post-DCD work, then “Amnesia” is definitely the next logical progression. A great song nonetheless, it’ll still be nice to hear some new Dead Can Dance material featuring Gerrard’s lovely pipes.
