It has been way too long since new Maximo Park has filled my speakers and if the title track off The National Health (Out June 11th overseas) wasn’t enough to convince me how badly I needed new Maximo Park then “Hips And Lips” sealed the deal. Destroying all you thought you knew about the UK five-piece, “Hips And Lips” is this surreal new wave song to begin with that builds and builds into this explosive climactic rock song. The band sounds incredible and resident wordsmith Paul Smith is in top form.
The epitome of a musical rollercoaster, the crescendos of ecstasy that Maximo take you on are indescribable. Keyboardist Lukas Wooller and drummer Tom English are the true heroes here as they act as your guides through this ride.
