If you want to get right down to it, no matter what Stefano did all season long, he had to get eliminated because of that horrendous wannabe Chippendale’s dancing last week right? Now, let’s get to something more important. Important as in, my wife, Kara DioGuardi.
Miss Kara was in the news today because of a Rolling Stone article that quoted parts of her new book, A Helluva High Note, where she went HAM on Simon and the Idol process. She says this about Simon Cowell:
I smoked way too many cigarettes (a nasty habit I had previously kicked) outside the set in an attempt to bond with him. But he wasn’t having any of it. I hated myself for seeking his approval. I have never been that person. I say what I feel and I don’t kiss ass for anything, but if I couldn’t get him to acknowledge or engage me, I was going to be in big trouble when the light turned red.
And before anyone comes to Simon’s defense, I support Kara. Well, since she’s my wife, of course I do. But, I always figured she was on the show to be the heir apparent to Simon because her critiques were just as honest as Simon’s. But sometimes, when she was honest, people called her bitchy, while being entertained by Simon’s honesty. She was in a no win situation. I guess this spoils my hope that she was going to make a guest appearance on X-Factor.
And remember when she upstaged the Bikini Girl on the season 8 finale? Here’s what she says about that:
But what they were asking me to do seemed above and beyond the call of duty. I couldn’t sleep or eat. When we wrapped, I went back to my trailer outside the Nokia Theater and bawled uncontrollably for 20 minutes. I had gone from the heights of success to the depths of humiliation.
And before you knock her for that situation, do remember that she got over an eating disorder, which seemed to be a pretty prevalent deal in her life and tried to get the bit cut out of the show, but to no avail. She’s a hero. And again, she’s my wife. Don’t ever forget it!
Let’s get to the hotlist.

J. Lo Booty Alert
Man, they really panned away from the booty quick. I don’t get the camera man who shoots that shot. Randy looks like a fat member of Boyz II Men tonight.
Tonight is Carole King night. Really? Nice!
Hey, Babyface is on the show tonight. His momma name him Kenneth, I’ma call him Kenneth. He’s hanging with Jimmy Iovine tonight, taking will.i.am’s spot.
Jacob Lusk is singing Oh No Not My Baby. Jacob is letting the diva fly a little bit. While his look was more like the color blind version of Boyz II Men, his vocals were off the hook. Then he started to dance a jig of some sort, and that ruined some of the presentation because he doesn’t dance very well. But man, those pipes. Steven says it’s about time he shook his tail feathers. J. Lo says he killed it. Randall says he’s here because he’s a great singer. It seems to Jimmy and the judges, that Jacob needs some help. Maybe they know what the vote totals have been like recently.
dysfashional says:
#JacobLusk looks like he stepped off the the Little Rascals set #Dysfashional Directive: Over styled is a #FAIL #AmericanIdol #Idol10
aerocat says:
Dang, Jacob is doing GREAT, despite the outfit. Awesome!! #AmericanIdol
Lauren Alaina is up next and she’s singing Where You Lead. Miley Cyrus showed up and gave her advice, thankfully not about singing. Mostly about how to deal with criticism. She added a little bit of swagger to her performance tonight. She pulled a guy out and sat him on the stairs and just left him there to look at her. I still don’t think anyone can beat her. J. Lo says she’s so proud of her. Randall says she went up there with a vengeance. (What was she avenging?) Steven says to keep shining and to keep breaking her voice.
elliehempleman says:
Lauren Alaina can sing, serenade and look sultry. Girl rocked the performance, looked fierce + has my vote to win. Get it girl. #idol10
They’re doing duets and up first is Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart. Since they don’t really count, I’m not going to write about them much. They’re singing I Feel the Earth Move. Their entire interview segment was there to tease us that they’re actually having sex. Yes, that’s what they wanted us to think they’re knocking boots. And if so, good for Casey, and maybe not as good for Haley. Steven called them out for hitting skins.
Word on the street is that the young girls are calling Scotty McCreery Scotty Too Hotty. Ok, maybe they’re not calling him that, but if they love him, they should. You’re welcome. He’s singing You’ve Got a Friend, and no, it’s not the same song from Toy Story. This is maybe his most heartfelt performance so far, but it was a tiny bit bland. He did put a little bit of flavor on it in the end though. Randall says to stop falling off his high notes, but it was otherwise flawless. Steven says he’s never sang better. J. Lo says he told that story beautifully.
slaubr says:
Please wake me up when Scotty is done. #Idol10
tati1120 says:
Scotty… is having a moment. This is amazing. #idol
Big Game James Durbin and his ears are next. He’s singing Will You Love Me Tomorrow. This is the performance he and his ears needed to have to show that he could do more than just one genre. He may finish second in this deal. Steven says he was sold right in the beginning. J. Lo says it was magical. Randall says that tonight, he proved that he’s a great singer and says that he might just win the whole thing.
phreddd says:
James did the one Carole King song I was worried about… and he did it WELL. #americanidol #idol #idol10
Scotty and Lauren are duetting with Upon The Roof. It was very sweet.
Casey Abrams is singing Hi-De-Ho. It’s much more a performance based song and he owns the stage. The vocals are ok, but I’m not a fan of his growl, but still, it was the best stage performance of the night. Randall says it took him back to New Orleans. Steven says it made his scalp itch it was so good. J. Lo says she wants him to loosen up a little, but she really liked it.
ohsmartie says:
Casey: LOVED how into the performance he was, I really enjoyed watching it #idol
Haley Reinhart and her teeth are singing Beautiful. I really like her toned down look. She’s still able to show some skin, but not like before when she seemed to be worried that she was going to be eliminated. Still, she doesn’t deserve to be there with the rest of the crew. She’s at a slightly lower level than the rest. Steven says she nailed it. J. Lo says she has one of the best voices in the competition. Hmm, shouldn’t she by now? Randall says he didn’t like the beginning, but he liked the end.
Haley has come into her own during crunch time.. I like her #idol10
James and Jacob are closing the show with I’m Into Something Good. It didn’t necessarily close the show well. It was kind of insane.

James Durbin actually had the best performance of the night. I thought it was truly brilliant. Jacob Lusk is still the best of the entire season, but he’s goin home tonight. Mark my words.

Someone should have told Steven that the reason his scalp itches is because of the Hep C.

They were definitely throwing hints around on poor Jacob. Jimmy said it. Randy said it.
