Can you believe that Raphael Saadiq’s been making great music for almost a quarter century?
As part of Tony Toni Tone (exclamation points optional) or Lucy Pearl, as a solo artist or a songwriter/producer for Joss Stone, Q-Tip, Whitney Houston, The Bee Gees and a ton of other artists, the singer/bassist has created several musical masterpieces. His most recent solo project, The Way I See It, won him some long-overdue recognition among members of the mainstream media.
The Grammy winner is returning this spring with a new album entitled Stone Rollin’ . The first single from the project is entitled “Radio”, and it features Saadiq still mining the sound that he scored with on the last album. There’s a very Motown-retro vibe happening here. While the song is great, I hope that the rest of the album mines more eclectic territory, befitting Raphael’s reputation as a musical chameleon.
Check out the song on Raphael’s website.
