Well, this is a nice little Christmas gift.
Sony Music has announced that an album consisting of previously unreleased Michael Jackson material is coming out on December 14th, just in time for the festive holiday season. No word on the track listing yet, but the album, entitled “Michael”, will contain at least a few tracks recorded in 2007 in New Jersey. There’s already been a bit of a kerfuffle (I’ve always wanted to use that word) regarding whether the vocals on some of these songs are actually Michael’s, but “Michael” ultimately has the approval of the Jackson estate.
I’m curious to hear what the album sounds like-Michael apparently left quite a bit of unreleased material behind when he died, so I’m positive this won’t be the last posthumous MJ release. A track from the album, “Breaking News”, will be streaming on Michael’s website beginning Monday morning. Without a great deal of essential music coming out in the next 6 weeks, “Michael” automatically shoots to the top of my to-buy list and probably will for a lot of others!

There’s a teaser for the new song up on the site now and I’m not sure I like the angle they’re taking.

Looks like MJ’s site crashed. I’m sure I’ll hear it at some point before Monday.
