Good news if you’re a Beastie Boys fan (like yours truly). The hip-hop legends (who might be Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame inductees next year) have finally set a March 2011 release date for their “Hot Sauce Committee, Part 1” album, which was originally supposed to come out in 2009 but was indefinitely postponed following Adam Yauch’s cancer diagnosis. Only, it’s now retitled “Hot Sauce Committee, Part 2”. And it contains the songs that were originally scheduled to be on Part 1. And the songs that were recorded for Part 2 are being saved to put out at a later date. Confused much? Let Yauch explain it:
“…at least we can say unequivocally that Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 is coming out on time, which is more than I can say about Part 1, and really is all that matters in the end.”
Eh, I’ll take it. I tend to like the goofy hip-hop Beasties more than I like the noodly instrumental Beasties, but I’ll take either in a pinch. It’s been a pretty decent year for rap music thus far, so I’m hoping that Yauch, Mike D., and Ad-Rock will continue the genre’s hot streak into 2011.
