Spin Cycle: Gym Class Heroes' "The Papercut Chronicles II"

Spin Cycle: Gym Class Heroes’ “The Papercut Chronicles II”

Titling their latest album as a sequel to their debut seems like a curious move for Gym Class Heroes. Back in 2005, The Papercut Chronicles was safe hip-hop for the Fueled By Ramen set – the Heroes wove strands of aggro punk and emo into their stylistic tapestry, and the results were more Fall Out Boy than Kanye West. (This, of course, long before Fall Out Boy ironically acquired Kanye’s penchant for hubris, outsized ambition, and Jay-Z cameos.) They’re a peculiar […]

Chart Stalker 9/15/11: Strait to…#3?

A country superstar he may be, but the legendary George Strait couldn’t topple Lil Wayne or Adele from their perches at the top of the Billboard album charts this week. His Here For A Good Time makes a pretty respectable debut with 91,000 units sold, but lands at #3 on the list, behind Weezy’s 219,000 (a pretty steep dropoff in The Carter IV‘s second week…blame it on bad word of mouth) and Adele’s 121,000. Adele’s numbers continue to be mind-blowing. […]

Hear Here!: Gym Class Heroes’ “Stereo Hearts” (feat. Adam Levine)

Travie McCoy’s solo success with the Bruno Mars-assisted “Billionaire” does not mean the end of his band, Gym Class Heroes. The band is back with a new album scheduled for release later this summer. With the sales of the last Gym Class Heroes album not […]

New Release Report 6/8/10: Christina Aguilera-Bionic Woman

Looks like things are starting to heat up again on the new release front, with albums out from a variety of current and former superstar artists. First on the list is Christina Aguilera with her fifth English-language studio, non-holiday album. “Bionic” is the title, and if you’re an Xtina fan, you probably don’t need me to tell you about the album’s direction. After all, she’s been talking about it ever since she debuted “Keeps Gettin’ Better” on the VMAs two […]
