If you, like me, assumed singer/songwriter Damien Rice decided to retire after the release of his second album 9, you were probably pleasantly surprised when the release of a new record, My Favourite Faded Fantasy, was announced earlier this year.

I haven’t had a chance to dig in yet. Full disclosure-I need to be in a certain kind of mood to fully appreciate Rice’s music, and I (somewhat thankfully) haven’t been in that kind of space recently. However, reviews for Faded have been solid, and Rice is continuing down the comeback trail with an American tour. The spring jaunt commences March 31st in Atlanta and finds the troubadour heading West, landing in L.A. about a month later. While he will be touring without his constant foil, Lisa Hanningan (apparently the fractured relationship between the two had much to do with Rice’s absence,) I’m sure his haunting lyrics and soulful vocals will fare just fine on their own.
