As we count down the months until the release of Guster’s Evermotion LP, the band that formed just up the road from me at Tufts University keeps teasing fans with new music.
The most recent track unveiled, “Simple Machine,” finds Ryan and the boys indulging in some synth pop that sounds a little more like Vampire Weekend or latter-day Ra Ra Riot than we’re accustomed to from Guster. As I’m a fan of both those bands, I dig it. Not sure what some of the more tried and true Guster fans are feeling. Personally, I’m curious to know if more of the album will go in this direction.
I guess we’ll have to wait until January, which is when Evermotion will officially be released. Till then…
