Thinking back on the day that Michael Jackson’s HIStory album came out…I was working at a record store at the time. We did stay open past midnight to sell the album as early as humanly possible, and it made its debut on our sound system at precisely 12:01. Two things I remember concluding really quickly were a) this album was not going to live up to the expectations I had and b) “Stranger In Moscow” was easily the standout track.

Fast-forward almost twenty years (Jeez!) and Michael is no longer with us, but his music lives on, not least due to the frequency and reverence with which his music has been covered. I’m not terribly familiar with Tame Impala (maybe a little too hipster for me?) but they do a solid job here. And anyone who gives props to the King of Pop can’t be bad. Right?
